First Mission Trip

Hello! It has been awhile since I have blogged.  I just got back from an amazing journey.  My first missions trip was a success. I went to Tijuana,Mexico March 11th.  I was invited to join Gods’ Glory Tabernacle international on this trip.

While we were in Tijuana we got to do some amazing things. We started the week off with going to the dumps and painting a play set for all the kids and some kids even got to help us. We gave the parents food for their families and prayed over them. There were many who really wanted prayer and we did not let the language difference get in the way of that. Once we were done painting all the kids were home from school and we had kids jumping on us. They were so happy to have people who wanted to give them attention. They aren’t use to getting the attention that they need.

Another amazing thing we did while we were there was going to the orphanage. We woke up early one morning and got a bunch of gifts together. We headed out towards the orphanage to spend the day. The boys were outside playing and climbing on their play ground in their back yard. The boys showed me how to climb up ( since they didn’t have plain stairs) when I finally got up there, five minutes later,   the kids showed me how to slide. They are so use to playing outside they invent new things so it never gets boring. They were working on jumping over a piece of wood and landing on the slide.

The girls were a little more girly which is normal and stayed inside most of the time. We went inside and played with the girls and braided their hair. Then they decided they wanted to do our hair…..very tightly hahaha. They had a little boy Juan who was the cutest thing. We had lunch with the kids and gave them all their gifts and everyone was very happy. They all gave hugs and told us good-bye.

It was nice to be able to love and play with the kids in both the dumps and the orphanage.  This trip was amazing and I can’t wait to see what other journeys God has for me in the future.  That is all I have for now

Love you all,

Kenna ❤

Best Friends

Hey it’s Ellie!

Today I want to share with you about my friend in Brazil. Her name is Isabelle Lopes. We get to text message each other, and  we just talk about what’s going on.  I really try to talk as much Portuguese as I possibly can, but it gets hard. We also like to send pictures back and forth to each other, and we laugh a lot!  Last Christmas,  I bought us necklaces that are like friendship ones. They say “sister at heart” on them. I haven’t got to give them to her yet, because we kind of are a BILLION miles apart.  I will one day though, and I can’t wait. I am excited to go there so we can be best friends or as they say now BFF’S.

Joyful noises

October 9th was a big day for Ellie and I. We had our first day of voice lessons. There was so much that we learned that we never thought about learning. For example, we learned about how to take care of our voices like not to yell and to wear a scarf when it is cold outside. Then we split up and I (Kenna)  went in first and we sang some notes. Our teacher is very fun and teaches great. She wants to help build us up and not tear us down. She wants us to be confident in our own voices. We realize that, growing up in  the missions field,  music is a big part of it.  Being able to worship with a decent voice ( that won’t kill anyone) will help us to be more focused on God and less on how we sound. Taking this class will help both of us and we are both excited to see what will happen and our improvements should make everyone around us happy!

We love you guys,

xoxo Kenna & Ellie

Fallin’ for Fall

October is finally here! I am so excited for this month to finally be here. I would have to say October is my favorite month of the year. The leaves are starting to change colors and fall to the ground. The weather is starting to cool down but not to where it is too cold. Then, there is always harvest parties, festivals, corn mazes, hot cocoa, and chances to wear costumes.  I really enjoy getting together with friends and family and dressing up. It is a time of year that memories are always made. I think I will definitely enjoy this one before we go to Brazil and don’t do it anymore.  Lastly, lets be real my BIRTHDAY is in October! That would be the most exciting part. I can not believe I am going to be 16 in 4 days! My Sweet 16!  I am so happy that I get to be here to take my driving  test.  If I get that, I will enjoy driving here in the USA before I go to Brazil and can’t drive at all……..

Well that is all I got for now!

Love you,

No Snow Days

Hey it’s Ellie!

No we have not moved yet. None of us want to be here for winter. Not that we want to leave everybody, it’s that we have been waiting so long and we are ready to go to Brazil.  Also, it is hard here during the winter.  One thing that is kind of cool, we sometimes wake up to a frozen lake.   One thing that is not cool is we do not have snow days from school, because we do not get picked up from a school bus that stinks! So really there is no plus side of getting snow for homeschool. And, as far as homeschool goes, I mean it’s not that fun we do regular subjects just like everyone else. A lot of people always say “oh I want to be home schooled” and I say you are not missing out on anything. Except, maybe sleep. We get to sleep until 8:30 in the morning! Yay!
